In a study by Martijn Arns et al. (2007), 6 average golfers saw a 25% performance increase. This is because when a basketball player is nervously unable to get the ball over the net, or when a tennis player loses a point or gives the opposing team an advantage, there is an increase in theta or beta waves in the frontal lobe of the brain at that moment.
In a study by Ring et al. (2015), 36 talented golfers were included. A sequential sampling method was used to create three groups: a Neurofeedback FSI group (n = 12), a traditional instruction (TI) group (n = 12), and a sham control (SC) group (n = 12). Neurofeedback FSI approach has been shown to be more effective than TI in increasing sustained attention and improving performance in skilled golfers.

Australian Jason Day, currently ranked number 11 in the world, has been using neurofeedback for several years and says it has resulted in a "110% improvement" in his mental game. Therefore, his ranking as the best putter on the 2018 PGA Tour may not be a coincidence.
American Bryson DeChambeau, currently ranked world number seven, revealed in August 2018 that he had started taking Neurofeedback brain training before winning two of his four season-ending FedEx Cup playoff events.

Brooke uses individual brain scans to teach golfers how to reach their optimal mental state to help improve their golf game. Farmingdale's Bethpage State Park offers neurofeedback alongside more traditional lessons, such as teaching golf ball stroke and stance, for those who want to learn the calm concentration needed to excel. Brooke says neurofeedback also helps him match his teaching style to the needs of his students. “Anyone can play golf; you just have to understand their learning styles,” he said. With a portable EEG headset, she said, “I can tell whether they are auditory, kinesthetic, or visual [learners].” Those in the first category can learn best by listening; in the second, being positioned correctly might yield better results; and the third group might gain more by watching videos, she said. Researchers say brains are “plastic,” meaning dominance isn’t entirely fixed. Brooke said she uses neurofeedback technology with all her students except beginners and emphasized the importance of teaching calmness and focus.
